How to get to parking light bulb on 2nd Gen 4Runner

I have a burned out parking light and figured it would be easy enough to just pop the lense cover of and swap out the bulb. A couple of screws easily got the entire housing off of the bumper and it's easy to unplug the connector from the housing, but that's where the puzzle began. How the heck do you get to the actual bulb?! :wtf:

There's no latch or button or gizmo that enables you to pop the back panel off of the housing so you can get to the bulb. Well, to clarify, this idiot can't figure out how to get to the bulb. Any suggestions? Looks like I'm going to need explicit details on this one so talk to me like you were walking your girlfriend through it.

Thanks -- Ed

Nope. Those didn't help. To clarify, I'm talking about my front turn signal/parking light housing. I may take some photos and post to show what I'm refering to, but there seems to be no way to get at the bulbs in the housing. In the photos you linked, it's very clear that all you do is twist the plug of the bulb and it comes out. Not so with the 2nd gen. front parking light housing. I'm still stumped.

If I remember correctly you have to turn where the wires go in a quarter turn to the left and the whole bulb assembly will come out. I could be wrong.. I have had mine off a few times but it's been a while. Surely someone who has done clear corners will remember.

I have changed mine before, very easy.

Once you pull the housing away from the fender, you have to twist the socket the bulb is in if I remember right.

Reach in behind the bumper, turn the socket going into the housing and pop it out. It really is that easy

Yep, it just unscrews from the back of the housing. There is nothing that you can do from the front.

Everyone covered it - quarter turn on the connector and the bulb is in your hand like an ice cream cone.

Or that's for side markers. I guess you were probably talking about the bumper lights. Those are a lot easyer. Anyway.....

The side marker or corner lights pull straight forward first to remove them. Prying them will bend the mounts or break the tabs on the housing. At least on my 93 that's the skinny...
