How to do my own lube job?
What nipples do I need to grease, what type of grease, what type of grease gun??? I do my own oil changes now, so a complete write up for greasing, lubing, oiling etc. of the whole 4runner would be nice.
Anyone?

It's easy. Any standard grease gun will work although I would recommend getting one with a flexible hose. As for grease, I use Valvoline Synthetic, although any good quality grease will do. If I remember right there are 2 on each U-joint and 1 each on the spline shaft for the drive shaft. I would imagine your 3rd gen would be about the same.
Every now and then one of the zerks gets plugged and you can't get any grease in using the hand grease gun. Just take it to a lube place and tell them to grease it. Their machine will have enough pressure to unplug the zerks.

You need to use black Molybdenum Disulfide grease. Depending on how many "zerks" or grease fittings there are. On my pickup there were 11 originally. When I replaced my upper and lower ball joints and steering arm and pitman arm, I installed a zerk in each ball joint and the steering arm, so I have 18 now. There are some on each u-joint on the front and rear driveshafts and the yoke for the double cardan (CV) joints on the driveshafts as well. You just need to look carefully and you will find them. Just squirt some grease into the nipple until you see some ooze out the u-joints. On the ball joints, watch the rubber bulb. It will fill with grease, but don't overfill those since they will pop. Good luck.

Hey Plamar,
I don't know the # of fittings offhand, but I think there's write-ups for lubing both here and on 4x4wire. Check our tech section!
EDIT: I couldn't find a write-up here, but this is the one on ODW:
