how do i find out my gear ratio
well today i found out i need a new axle carrier/chuck...the guy said there was 3 different gear ratios for my 87 pickup 4x4...where exactly on the front axle will there be an i.d. tag?? he said mine didnt have an i.d. on the rear. help please...

i dont want to sound worthless but my id is G292...so i have 4.10's and 2 pinions?

i've never done this myself(lazy) but, i uderstand that you can elevate the rear end and turn the drive shaft manually. count how many rotations the tire makes to one rotation of the DS. or is that count rotations of DS to one rotation of tire?.......oh never mind
