How can I tell which alternator I have?
This could be a newbie question. I did search.
Saw a high output alternator for 4runners and tacomas that says it has 160 amp capability. How can I tell if I have a regular alt or a high output already installed? I don't have any guages that tell me how many amps or volts I'm using. Is there a certain part number I should be looking for without actually removing my alternator?

even if its a rebuilt alternator, you wont notice the physical differences. so, you wont know unless you track down the internals. btw, there are several components replaced to give a higher current output.

I was under the impression that 3rd gens had either a 70 or 80 amp alternator. Off topic but, did you swap the e-locker into your 01?
Is it a factory alternator? IE does it have the factory part numbers on the casing??
