anyone know what happened to his site? I used to use it for maintanence, and wanted to look at the article for cleaning the vent fan behind th glove box.

thanks a ton...i was also doing the intake silencer mod on my 98 rig and acquired the two pieces from the 99-02 intake to use and had the middle pipe piece made. I have the one hose that goes into the existing silencer box that needs to be t-fitted into the longer hose that goes to the air filter box, right? also noticed the hose fitting on the 99 intake piece that connect to the throttle body has a larger hole than the 98...so im assuming i need an adaptor for this. your(unhappy) and bobs write up did not address this as far as I could tell?

Can't help you with the ISR mod, I never did one.

Before you replace the torsion spring with a linear return spring, just pop out the torsion and drive around a while. The pedal is held up just fine by clutch master cylinder spring. At first, the pedal feels a bit floppy at the top of the stroke, but you won't notice it after a few days.

But if a spring isn't there, first bump you hit on the road, the cruise control will shut down. Due to the clutch pedal hitting a safety switch.

Get a regular extension spring with a hook on each end.

There is a thread in YT about this mod too and it works very well.

That was my concern at first, but there is plenty of push coming from the master cylinder return spring keeping the pedal against the stop. Reading through the replacement thread, no one has a problem with cruise control.

Mine sure did. I did the extension spring mod. Much easier to put in than the O.E.M. plastic bushing and funky spring.

Just remove the lower left panel off the dash, and install the spring. There are lots of places to anchor it under the dash.

But only one at the clutch pedal arm, right at the pedal to slave cylinder pivot pin.

That ended the cruise control problem, and no more squeaking/sqwaking from the O.E.M. bushing and cheapo spring.

If I remember correctly the extension spring was about 5"-6" long.

That would imply that your clutch pedal cruise control switch is either has a little shorter internal actuator, or backed out such that cruise will cancel with very little pedal movement. That's all OK, its just on the sensitive side of things. Mine had quite a bit of pedal movement before cancelling cruise.

Looking at the end of page 6 of the linked thread above, there are pictures by OutDoorLiving which show the cruise control clutch switch on top of the blue pad on the lever arm. Its pretty easy to adjust height. Or add the return spring, either way.
