Hooking up an oil pressure guage
I tried searching and couldnt come up with anything. I was thinking about putting an oil pressure guage in and maybe a volt guage while im at it. Having not looked at it at all im assuming an electrical guage.
Can i come of the wires going to the dummy light? Or will the guage take a different sensor? This is for my 97 4runner
Thanks

im PRETTY sure for an oil gauge ur gonna need a oil pressure sender. i think you just have an oil pressure switch, that when the oil pressure drops, it turns the light on.

Yeah, i wonder if they make a dual one so i can keep the light also. I thinking of getting one of thos guage pods up the pillar. Not sure if i want two or three i hate to duplicate the temp guage. I dont like that.
I had thought about putting them down under the radio, not sure id like that plus i would have to make something to put them in so they looked factory.
I found a pod that goes completly top to bottom just like the factory one is in there now. 3 pods black , 2 pods same color as interior

when i did my gauges i bought an autometer oil pressure gauge that came with a sensor. popped one of two spare plugs out of the engine and screwed the sender in. ran the sender wire through the firewall, tapped a switched 12 volt power source made another ground, ran all wires to the gauge, and tapped + and - from a interior lighting source for the gauge light, mounted gauge and i was done. it was really easy and not messy like a mechanical gauge, electric is the way to go!

Here is the write up I used. Have fun removing the oil plug....spray it with lots of PB blaster and have some patience.
