Hitch?

Lots of brands, and often a trailer hitch/welding shop in your town stocks many brands, or they can custom fab you up one from scratch.

This is what I have.

Mine is similar to this class III one.
These are a bolt on, and you can do it in your driveway.
Draw Tite's are very high quality.

I have the OEM hitch, and I dont like it that much. It hangs down too far, and snags while off-roading. So I keep it off my truck unless I need to tow something. Its only 4 bolts, and it weighs 40+ lbs, no bigee.

I am getting a Draw-tite for my 02 Taco and it runs around $130. The wiring harness is around $40. The OEM is very expensive and in my opinion not worth it. My 02 4Runner came with the OEM hitch and it is nice. My 88 has a toyota hitch that was dealer installed in Oct of 88 for $500. Ouch.

So, you guy's are saying that the OEM Reese hitches aren't that good? Why? I have one of those, it not rusted or anything. What's the dillio? Mr. T wants to know.

Another reason for me, is off-roading. Since I go a lot, and sometimes alone, the last thing I need is a trailer hitch (without the ball) getting snagged on rocks and dirt. I need all the departure angle I can get. My .02.

I have a drawtite that has been very good to me. I've used it to tow my boat mainly, but I've also used it with a quality tow strap to yank rigs out of mud and snow. I've also used it to get pulled out myself. I also used to to rip out stumps from shrubs and bushes - much easier than digging them out. And aside from the normal boat towing, all other uses where very jerky, i.e. a lot of sudden stress on teh strap/hitch/frame - no problems at all.

I had an aftermarket U Haul class 3 rear receiver on my truck when I got it. It worked all right for all the reasons that people have them, but it did get me stuck once in a mud hole in Socal. I replaced my rear bumper a couple of months ago, and well it went away. I like the idea of having the rear hitch integrated into my rear bumper so that it is always there and there are no clearance issues.
