I'm interested in one also. Please let me know if anyone has experience with a high amp alternator. I'm running a lot of accessories and get a clicking relay sound behind my dash near the steering column.Only at idle iwith truck in gear. Voltmeter drops down to just above middle, goes up when I rev engine.
Any ideas what's causing this or is it just low voltage related?
Thanks.

The 200 amp one is from excessiveamperage.com. The price is 315 shipped for the 200 amp one. I will be purchasing one very soon for my system.

Mobi-Arc makes a replacement stator for the stock alternater to up the amps to around 90 or 100: in case anybody was interested in that. I think it's only like 45 bucks.

all i know that the alternator in the pic will not work on a 3.0L for atleast 1 reason, the pully on that alternator looks like a 3.4L pulley and the 3.0L and 3.4L pullys are different i believe. even if they are the same how they bolt on is different so you would have to modify it. i forget if you can mount the 3.0L alternator on a 3.4L if you drill out one of the mounting holes or if it is the other way around, drilling out one of the 3.4Ls alternator mounting holes. dont hate me if this is hard to understand, im tired. lol

lol - alternator mounting bracket modification hard? NAH! I WELCOME that.

Now, are there anything in this 3.0 alt case size that kicks out MORE than 200amps?

I need something in the neighborhood of 350-400 with external voltage regulator as when my system goes to full power, she draws well in excess of 900 amps.

I doubt your gonna find a 350-400 watt alt. you may just look at getting some of those batcaps.

What kind of output are you looking for George? A few of us here run alternators that we got from Mr Alternator: http://www.mralternator.com, his name is "Tom".

His stuff is generally rated at 150amps, I paid $225 including shipping. He'll also powdercoat the alternator in most any color for $25 more.

Nice guy, good to deal with, good product and easy to install.

You can only modify the 3.0 alt to put out so much power because of it's size. 150 amps seems to be about the limit. Any more, and you create too much heat by packing the windings too closely together and wind up losing power.

You want a big, efficient alternator? Get one out of a chevy. They can easily be beefed up to put out over 200 amps.

Battcaps are illegal in the division I compete in. Well I will be looking at some GM alt cases soon....

I used a junkyard GM CS130 105 amp alternator on mine when my stock one went. It lasted for a few months and finally popped smoke when the bearing went out.
I got a new one they are fairly easy to hook up and only about $100-115.

Have you considered running two alternators? Also what class are you in? I plan on competing in the local stock class with the 15s. I had my db's checked after installing the amps and got a 158.3

I'm in Street C in dB Drag, or Advanced no wall in IDBL (until I go from 2 15s to 4 12s. Then Ill be in stock 4 in IDBL. )

I could run as many I wanted as the engine must be off during a run at db drag. (I need the powerful alt for daily driving when I do occasionally blow the doors off of someone bumping at a light.) I like the idea of two alts, but the one catch is my 2nd gen's engine bay isnt exactly the most cavernous thing on the planet. lol I'm sure I can get a BIG single alt to fit, but I think forcing 2 in there would require some inventiveness with a plasma cutter....LOL Maybe not, I'll have to go measure it.

Hey you going to SBN down in Daytona this coming weekend? I'll be there competing with my black '90 4runner along with another buddy in a 93 red 4runner.

I only know one guy that runs dual alts on his truck:

When I was paying attention to stereo stuff I remember there was an alternator produced for a chevy application that would put out 350 amps.
