high idle after tb cleaning

i have searched and cannot ind the info i need,i have a 2001 tacoma 3.4l 5 speed.it was running great until i cleaned the tb with crc cleaner and the maf now it has a high idle.i pulled the iac off and thoroughly cleaned it and ohm tested it and also hooked 12v source to it and it seems to be functioning.i checked for vac leaks and found nothing.if i start it cold it idles about 1800 2kish and when it kicks down it sits at 1400ish.if i drive it and hit the gas it drops to 1k and then creeps to 1400.i cant find info to test 3 wire tps figured that was the only thing left, any help is greatly appreciated

I would think TPS as well, especially if you didn't remove it when cleaning. I've read on here that some of the stuff used to clean TB's can mess them up, but I have no idea how to check it on your truck.

i found the test in my chilton manual,i ran a ohm test with multi meter a t20k and the tps checked out,i then checked iac on same setting and that was off but im not 100% sure i have my multimeter on the correct setting.i can hear the idle kick down when i first start it and it idles at 1100 but after i drive it it sometimes creeps up to 1400rpms

There is most likely a gap now between the TB and butterfly valve after you removed the gunk from the TB. This will cause high idle that cant be adjusted out.

The gap forms over time from metal on metal contact.

You can fill the gap back up with high temp silicone.

i guess thats possible but with only 130k i would expect better from a toyota.i did notice that if i took off the green solenoid for iac when it was running it would idle down,as soon as i put it back on it would idle up again.i dont want to throw a 230. part at it hoping thats the issue not to mention what a tb would cost cause there isnt any at the jy's around here

I cleaned my IAC and TB recently. Did you give the computer enough time to readjust? Did you add anything to seal the IAC?(made this mistake and it held my IAC valve closed= high idle) Did you accidentally bend the butterfly valve when cleaning? Its there a visually obvious gap between the valve and the body? I think a bad TPS would throw a code. Forget to reconnect a vaccum hose? There's tons of high idle issues on here that resulted from mistakes, I wouldn't replace anything.

i didnt use anything to seal iac except original gasket and a very small amount of rtv on selenoid.there is a very small gap on top and bottom of butterfly,i already ordered a new iac valve and i triple checked all lines and sprayed carb cleaner around looking for a vac leak but i didnt find 1.ill have the new iac tomorrow ill post my results, today when i left work it was idling at 1500 and when i got home it was around 1700 rpm

Mine did the same thing after I cleaned the TB. Had to re-clean the IAC, I guess some crud made its way into it and the valve in the IAC got stuck. I nearly bought a new TB after reading some other posts but it turned out to be an easy fix.

Have you tried

resetting the EGR by removing and reinstalling the EFI fuse.

i installed the new iac valve and gasket today, after warm up it idled steady at 1100 rpm,i then rechecked with carb cleaner for any signs of a vac leak with no luck.i then adjusted stop screw for throttle to lower rpm to 750 to 800.im waiting for it to completely cool down so i can start it up and see how it acts.im assuming my iac was sticking and the removal of carbon in tb caused my 1100 rpm idle but time will tell i guess.

Hello,

I just want to confirm that this can still happen

1) clean TB
2) start back up, high idle (2 grand, settled to 1.2 after warmup)
3) drive it around a bit (6 miles) , idle settles back to normal, 600-700
4) no need to pull ECU or anything like that

in other words, high idle after tb clean is normal, but it is also
normal for it to return to normal, normally.

Update after putting new iac on idle dropped to 1100ish so I adjusted stop screw to get it back to 800ish.my ac compressor won't kick on unless I rev truck back to 1100 plus rpm.I can hit the throttle and make compressor kick on and off and I'm assuming it has to do with me messing with the stop screw.I ordered a tps cause the idle was jumping around if any 1 has any suggestions let me know thanks

i have a similar problem. air blows hot when at idle due to the compressor kicking off. when i bump the throttle the compressor kicks on. air blows cold when going down the road. i have recently had the freon checked by a shop and it's in limits. changed the IAC, and cleaned the throttle body and changed the TPS. Please help me get my air working when at idle. Its HOT in AL
