Hiding 6" of the XM Radio antenna wire on the roof

Happy New Year to you all.

I have been searching for quite some time, trying to find out where I can find a small flat strip of black rigid moulding tape to cover and protect the wire that will extend from the rear hatch forward on the roof 6" to the button antenna for my XM radio. The it has been such a long is because time is all I had. Up until now, I did not have all the components to do the installation on my Alpine head unit, but I finally have the last component --- the adapter cable. So, I am amping up my concentration on this in order to complete the installation.

I KNOW that I do not have to mount the antenna like this. I KNOW I can mount it on the dash, on the roof just to the side of my A-pillar, on the fender just to the side of the hood hinge or any other number of other places and get a decent reception. However, I want to mount it on the roof at least 6" inboard from any access point --- without drilling a hole through the sheet metal.

So, having said that, if anyone has found a product that can be used effectively for protecting the wire for my installation I would appreciate knowing what it is and where to get it. I have seen some factory (?) installations that come through with this protective moulding

The best idea I have come up with is to use the adhesive backed door moulding strip material that comes in rolls in any number of colors and finishes. I just think it is too thick for what I want the end result to look like.

With all due respect, if you do not have the answer please do not waste the bandwidth. TIA

Most antennas come with a strip of moulding with a groove in it that covers the wire, and adheres with double sided tape, mine was about 8" long.

Exactly! That is what I am looking for but the stuff I got from XM did not have that as part of the kit. Where can I get the tape you describe?

I suppose you could buy a new antenna, or call a stereoshop that installs XM and Sirius
