Im installing DDM Hid kit on my 4runner right now and I plugged in everything properly but the kit isn't firing.

I dont even hear the ballast turning on or anything!

Is there a write up somewhere?

alright so i just figured out that it is only turning on during highbeam

NO lowbeam...whats going on?!

Let me give you some advice, you can choose whether you want to take it or not. I had HID's on my old car (03' Tiburon GT). I have NEVER had more problems on a car than those damn HID's. CONSTANTLY blew fuses with the tiniest drip of water. Such a PITA. NEVER again will i use HID's.

ive installed the ddm kit on other cars no problem before

its just this time....

no lowbeam but highbeams work fine..?

i put hids in my pickup into the h4 conversion headlamp. i didnt even bother to modify the rubber boot so no there isnt anything to seal water out of the headlight. i just zip tied the ballasts to the side. ive driven into water that splashes over my hood many times and my hids still work even though the whole engine bay is covered in mud.also one of these days, you are going to get pulled over and the cop will tell you to take out the kit because its illegal. just happened to my buddys mustang with 10,000k hids. ive been thru bunch of road blocks with my 10,000k hids and cops never have said anything, but one of these days one will make me take them out

i had the same problem when i first did mine but i got them from the rice burner store hear. so i switched them out and it worked my only problem is that my high and low beams are backwards so. but on the water thing ive had my hids through some deep water and had no problems ive had it deep enough the air box was half full of water but the hids worked fine.

a couple of things on this, 1. you get 2 kits a low beam kit and a high beam kit you might of got the wrong kit. if it is a low beam kit sounds like you have attached the trigger wire to the wrong wire off your main lighting loom. 2. a big one over here in uk not sure on us rules of the road is if you fit a hid kit you also need to change the headlight aswell for 2 reasons 1. burner bulbs (hid) melt original lenses and reflectors as the headlight was never designed to take the heat off hid kits. 2. because the original headlight was designed for halogen bulbs hid bulbs tend to glare and reflect of the reflector in the wrong places. in the uk hid kits will be illegal to fit to vehicles that wasnt originaly designed to have hid lights, unless you change the whole headlight rated to ec 98 standard to cope with the extra heat and and beam pattern. i know this as i was going to buy myself a set of hid lights and fit them to my lux but looking into it it was more trouble than it was worth hence why i fitted the plasma clocks and plasma boost gauge. id check the law on hid in your area before you try doing anything else with them if your adiment your fitting them id suggest check you kit and see if you bought the correct one to start with and if you have the main trigger wire off your ballast box is connected to the wrong wire on your lighting loom.

Unless you bought a High-Low kit ( and HID bulb with a little halogen for high beams) you wont have use of your brights. Try turning the wire that plugs into the ballast 180 degrees. also make sure the wires that plug into the stock harness are in the ground and low beam spot. I learned this lesson the hard way but trial and error is a good way to teach yourself new things.

I just installed my HIDs from hidpalace.com on Sunday and on the power feed wires to the ballasts I had to pull the connector terminals and swap them before the kit would fire. Use a multimeter and check which wire has power, I had power on the black wire and ground on the red which is why I had to switch them. I also had an issue with some cold solder joints in the 3-prong headlight connector that came with the kit but it was an easy fix.

A coworker has the DDM Bi-Xenon kit and HID fogs in his 05 SRunner and he has had no issues.
I bought an ebay kit for my 3rd Gen 4Runner and could NEVER get one side of the HID to work. I had HID low and halogen highs. I switched everything from one side to the other they'd work so I figured it was one of the ballasts. I had the company send another and still nothing. Sent it all back and they said it worked fine so I'm just a simple halogen guy now, screw the headaches.

when i installed mine i used my own relays ran off the headlight circut to trigger the relays and have a button for the high beam trigger, i believe toyota uses a double grond for the headlight circut, so this is why i have the button, but the wiring that came in the kit was crap and the relay burned out right away. wire it up with relays and ditch the rest and forget about it

You might have got the wrong set of lights. They make high beam only and low beam only as well as the combo..

are the DDM 9004 Hi-Low kits a low beam HID with a halogen hi-beam? or what?

super old thread but I figured Ill let you guys know that part of the ballast, the connection wasnt 100%. One of the wires were loose. I had to trace each wire and figure it out.

I rewired it back and HID's work fine. 100% of the time.

This is the second set of HID's I got from DDM that had wiring issues..but other than that the HID's work great

i for sure am not so stoked on DDM's HIDs. the older ones i got 1+ years ago were a lot better, brightness and color. their cust service is a MFPITA. i am going to try their led fog light for a reverse light. we will see if it is any good.
