Hi-beam headlights Indicator
I can see my hi-beam indicator when I have my headlights off and it is in the low-beam level. However, when I turn the headlights on (low-mean), it goes away.
What is wrong with it? Does anybody experience this?

Mine does that as well since I disconnected the DRL's. It's feeding a small amount of power back through the circuit since the circuit isn't completely grounded. Mine goes off when I turn on the lights or switch my DRL's on. Might be something the dealer can fix. Keep us posted on what you find out.

hi beam indicator problem - DRL
I am having the same problem with the high beam indicator coming on and off. It started 3 weeks after I disconnected the DRL by snipping wire 2 (and taping both ends) I believe in the DRL relay under the dash. The indicator goes away when I turn on the regular headlights as well. The rest of the time, the high beam indicator stays dim when the engine is turned off, but when it's running, it is weakly dimmed and comes on and off. It's annoying. Anybody who has experience this and knows what I can do to mitigate this issue, I would appreciate it. The dealer is no help. BTW, I have a 2001 4Runner. Thanks! Gary

Yeah, please let me know how it goes. I haven't tried reconnecting the wires yet. I wonder if it's oxidation of the cut wires or something?

I took my rig in the dealer today, after 8 hours they called and said that they couldn't find anything yet and would like to keep the truck there until Friday. I'll update when I get my rig back.

I've got the same problem, and I also have a switch installed on the DRL's. I just kinda played it off and don't really worry about it. I can see the indicator bulb burning out with all this use though, so if there is a fix, I'd be interested.

Put a diode inline as Cebby suggested. It will either work or it wont. If it doesnt it wont harm anything. A diode is basically a device that allows current one way and not the other.

I have no idea if it will work or not. As i dont know how toyota does their wiring but its worth a try. Diodes are cheap like borch and putting one inline will take about 2 minutes.
Or .. If the cut wire is looking for ground then you could put a resistor and diode to ground. The circuit would see ground and the high beam wouldnt light. The circuit would be open the other way. I would try it myself if i had done the mod. I should actually do the mod because hunting with DRL 's is no good.

As I've promised.
After left the rig 3 long days at the dealer, they called me and said that "There is NO TSB for disconnectig the DRL on 2002 model". Therefore, they couldn't fix the problem. However, they reconnected my DRL and the problem went away.
I intentionally disconnected the DRL and now they reconnected it. What a dumb.
