doing one of my searches I came accross thisebay link . Please say it aint so and they just are using a pick of your truck. You aren't selling this junk are you?
If not you need to e-mail them and tell them not to use your pic.

Note to all, you really should put copyright info or somekind of "do not use" on your pics.

It IS him, the url for that pic is http://members.shaw.ca/sizzlechest/92toyota.jpg

If this isn't you selling sizz, you can report it at
http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidenc...ext-theft.html

I get this all the time with my pagers, sometimes people just cut and paste my auctions, even connect to the pics on my server so they don't have to pay for hosting. I usually check all my competitors and have the copycats' auctions ended.

Good catch!

oh it's his truck. If you look at the properties of the pic in the middle of the page, it is still linked to his own web page. That's how I found it.

Best thing to do is upload a different pic on his website, same name. That way the pic on the auction changes. Now what pic to put there, maybe his avatar? Maybe a text mssg saved as a .jpg. endless fun possibilities.

That's a lot of fun. Did that to the first few, put all kinds of unimpressive stuff on their auctions. Got tired of the work though. You could start with a picture of something rusty and broken...

Sizzle, if you are not the seller, and this guy indeed did use your pic without permission.....
Put up a different pic in your directory with the same name.
I know what pics I would use
I'd have to hit up a porno site or two to find one.

That would piss off the seller for sure, and get him in trouble with Ebay.

looking at the other items the seller has for sale the pics all look like they've been mined from various websites. sent sizzle an email, hopefully he gets to change it before the auction ends.

It would also get YOU in trouble with ebay. That's actually a worse "offense" than image theft.

How about something like this...

Oh why didn't I find it sooner? This could be so much fun. I say put something on there like "This crap I sell is worthless, like me". LOL or "I like to steal pictures of off the Internet so I will steal your money".

How could changing your pic on your own sight get you in trouble with ebay, if someone is stealing it and you didn't know? You could claim innocent and say you were tired of looking at your truck.

I also sent sizzle a pm when I found it.

I'm trying to figure out how he'd get in trouble though since it's not his auction?
Oh well, if someone did that to me, that is what I'd do.

You also have to assume he is pulling the image from you and didn't create the webpage at the listing and had ebay host the pic. Did you check the source code or something?

EDIT......Just looked and you're right it is from his webpage!

Yeah, I almost miss messing with these idiots. I had to add my username to my auctions to stop this crap, like this...

I also put in pics advising bidders to buy from me instead, best thing to do is wait until they have a bid, then they can't change the html and the only way to get rid of it is to end the auction early.

I thought someone above had said the source code pointed to Sizzle's folder.
The page has just now changed, and it's been reported as theft.

eBay members are not allowed to use another eBay user's pictures or descriptions in their listings or About Me page without the owner's permission. Listings that violate eBay's Picture and Description Theft policy may be removed early. Multiple violations of this policy can result in suspension.

The following examples are not allowed on eBay.

A seller doesn't know the best way to describe an item. The seller copies a substantial amount of another's description and pastes it into a listing.
A seller takes someone else's picture and includes it in a listing since it looks very similar to the item the seller is offering.
A seller likes the way a competitor's About Me page looks. The seller copies the look and feel and a substantial amount of the text and creates an About Me page.

Don't see how. If you host an image, and someone else decides to post it up, it isn't exactly as if YOU posted the pic now is it?

This refers more to the porn suggestion. True, not your fault it's on ebay, but you know they'll folow that URL and do some serious snooping if it's porn. And our image theif will damn sure rat sizzlechest out to get off the hook. No charges obviously, just could be an enormous hassle.

I think I'd live with the hassle though if there was any.

Ebay can't tell Sizzle what he can or can not host on his own site, and all he has to do is say is he changed some pics on his site, and that he is not the Ebay guy selling the chip.

I don't take theft lightly, and if someone is going to take my pics without my permission, and on top of that use my bandwidth for their auction, you are darn right I am going to mess with them.

I agree. I found the biggest problem was how to minimize the damage to my own auctions, eg. where else is he using that picture where it will change? I started renaming the folder my pics were in, then just find/replace the folder name in new auctions html. Saved a lot of trouble and made it impossible to keep an outside link alive for long. If I had time I'd load the fun stuff in the old folder to mess with the bandwidth thieves.
