Help! wiring probs? 1985 toy
HI - thanks for answering my ?'s. Here's my problem:
About two weeks ago, I was getting back into my truck - I turned the key - and NOTHING. No dash lights, no "key is in the ignition sound", no click, nothing. Then, after a few turns of the key, it started up no problem. I drove it for the next two weeks (absolutely no problem starting, etc.) up until last night. I was drving home and the battery and brake light on the right hand side would fade in and out as I was accelerating. The truck itself was running fine. I got it in the driveway, and shut it off, tried to start it and NOTHING, just like two weeks ago. Only this time, it wont go again. I checked the battery cables, everything is tight. Then, after messing around a little (fixing nothing), I tried it again and then the "key in the ignition sound came on", but nothing else... then it didnt anymore. I don't think its the alternator, and the battery reads 12 volts on a meter. ANY HELP?? Thanks in advance!

Greetings The Battery and Brake lights indicate Alternator! Been there and done that. Also sounds like another problem associated with the alternator. Possible loose ground or a loose power wire. Check the fusible link from the Battery to the fuse box. Take the Alternator off and go to a rebuilder, not Checkers or Pep Boys, to have it checked.
