Dammit! During the supercharger install today, I spun one of the bolts that hold the SC to the head. It's one the 2 inside ones and though it's not just spinning freely, it won't hold any more than.. 15ft/lbs.

I haven't started it up yet (got the finishing touches tomorrow) but how up the creek am I? Is my only resort to retap the bolt hole or ...?

SPun it? sounds like you stripped the threads on the head to me. looks like maybe pulling the sc backoff and retapping the hole being careful with the shavings and maybe that would fix it. otherwise you may be able to find one size bigger (not advisable though) sorry to hear that happened. just be really really careful next time. good luck.

I don't know what the bolt is because I know almost nothing about putting those superchargers in.

Here is what I do know. Use helicoil to fix the threads. This involves retapping the hole and screwing the helicoil into the treaded hole. The helicoil is steel and becomes the treads for your bolt.

This should fix your problem and it is pretty strong too. If I were you I would go ahead and fix it otherwise you may have problems down the road.

Yep, you need a Heli-Coil. Take your bolt to the auto parts store and get the Heli-Coil kit for that bolt size. Then find a good hardware or machine store that will have a bottom tap in the same size and get one.

The kit will come with the drill bit and tap you need, but because that hole does not go all the way through to the other side of the metal you will have to use the included tap to start you threads and then switch to the bottom tap to cut the threads all the way to the bottom of the hole then insert the heli-coil with the insert tool.

If you don't use a bottom tap, then you will not be able to get the bolt deep enough in the hole because of the tapered cut of the standard tap.

Also, double check you torgue specs. That bolt you stripped is only supposed to be torqued to 13 Lb-Ft.
