Help! shorted a wire in my dash?

hey everyone,

maybe someone can help me? i was disconnecting my power antenna, and had the radio turned off while the antenna was out and all of a sudden the power just cut. now my clock doesn't work, my front map lights don't work and the radio doesn't work.

all heater/ac controls work, the guases work, the defroster works, the hazards work.

anybody know what's up?

I'm pretty sure you blew a fuse. Check that.

thanks gapguy, wish i had thought of that. actually, i did check the fuses before i posted. visually they all look good. i forgot:

the cig. lighter works.

the ashtray light and glove box light do not work.

guess i'll actually test the fuses and pull out the dash if i have to.

Did you find the solution to your problem? Today my clock and radio died but the cigarette lighter still works.

Sounds like either a fuse or a wiring harness came disconnected.

Hope you find the problem!

I say fuse. Look in your user manual (you do still have it right?) there is a fuse that controls half of all the radio/light/ac stuff. Best bet is just to find that fuse and replace. Remember, there are three places where fuses are, in the engine compartment, drivers kick panel, and behind glove box.

Mine's now fixed. I pulled the DOME fuse under the hood and noticed the gap on the contacts where the fuse goes in was quite wide. I bent the fuse tabs slightly and now everything works. I also bent the fuse tabs on the cigarette lighter and radio fuses in the kick panel for good luck.
