Question Help required (UK owner)

I own a 1994 V6 4runner which runs both on Petrol (Gas to you guys) and LPG and I want to get some additional low end power.
I am currently putting together UKMyers Airbox mod (which seems to be a good start) and am considering a few other bits besides this
I am changing the standard spark plugs for some NGK Iridium types (apparently these work better with LPG systems)
looking at adding a K&N drop in air filter
looking at removing the Catalytic convertor
blocking off the EGR valve (unsure whether this will benefit me or not)
I currently get about 13-15mpg and is this a bit poor (have a friend on the UK site who was getting around 20

Exclamation hi rusty! welcome!

Welcome to the group! Got a couple of thoughts for you first look up kerrs on the member list he's a fellow brit. Go with the drop in K&N they really do make a big difference you can actually hear the air moving through. I think the UKMyers mod is the one where you drill all sorts of holes in the bottom of the box is it not? I would suggest an alternate idea look up "Deck plate mod" this would be a better choice IMO it affords the option of returning to a closed box for minor fording in the wet. So far as removing the cat entirely I would aviod this for one thing when (if) they smog check your truck you will fail and it voids any warrenties or recall work that may occur. Switch to a free flow cat instead you'll get better performance a still be legal! Same with removing the EGR it will do no good and actually hurt you in cold damp weather as well as violating the anti-smog rules also. hope this helps Aviator
Edit when you do the plugs change the cap/rotor and wires too I just did mine and went from 14-15mpg back to 18-19mpg and got gobs of power back too!

I'm not overly bothered about drilling the airbox base out but am getting rid of all the excess piping from the Air Flow Meter to the intake manifold.
As for the CAT - in the UK it may be slightly different to the US in that if I can get the emissions down (which on running on LPG they are non-exsistent) it will pass testing. A large proportion of the boy racer (EVO, Impreza) brigade ditch the CAT to allow less back pressure and I wondered wether it would work with mine????
With regards to Filters I have just read the link on this thread which compares various different filter types

@ Aviator - what do you change your leads to???
On the 4runner the leads are a bit strange at the distributor end (almost like an RCA audio jack plug)
Have you got any pictures???
