Help re 1999 Used 4Runner Price
This is the first time I'm buying a used vehicle and could you the Board's input.
I'm going to look at a used 1999 4Runner Limited, 47,587 miles, 4x4, 3.4L V6, Auto 4 Spd w/OD, Cd, Sunroof, and etc. A Carfax report shows this was a leased vehicle. The listed price is $24,000. Do you think the dealer is asking too much? With the few details I have listed above, what would you think is a reasonable offer (assuming the test drive and visual inspection goes well)? It looks nice in the color photo. Thanks.

Check out Kelley Blue Book and/or the NADA Guide to get a ball park figure.
Based on the options you listed, I came up between $22,000 and $24,000 depending on the site. No matter what I would still try to come in a bit lower than that though!

Also, check the classifieds to see what other individuals are selling them for.
I just ran a search for the same mileage. Read through some of these to get an idea as well.
For a '99 Limited in good condition, ~$22,000 would be a pretty good deal I would think.
You sure you don't want a hood scoop, huh?! You'll regret it later!

You should be able to work the dealer. I'll bet he got it in trade for a song compared to what he's asking. I bought my 2000 this past summer and paid nearly $4k less than the dealers' original asking price. Hang tough and best of luck!

Yah man. Bad deal all the way.
I purchased a 2000 4Runner Ltd., the exact same version of that 4Runner with all the same options but a year newer for 20,500. 3,500 less than that. I suggest looking on eBay or in your newspaper unless the dealer is willing to come off 4 grand or so.

I'll do my best to get the lowest price. It's amazing how fast used 4Runners are sold. I found six recently listed by the dealer and three have already been sold.
I told my wife the more money I save paying for the 4Runner means more $ for "toys" to add to it.

This could help
Dealing with dealers can be lots of fun (as I am sure we all know)
Here is a link that will help you on your quest.

This guy tells it like it is. Check out ebay too, I saw a couple 5 speeds on there that looked like a pretty good deal. Or if you want an autotragic, then they have plenty of those too!

I just (Dec 2002) bought my 1999 4runner 4WD SR5 with 51,000 miles, 5 spd, all power, CD, rear locker and in great shape for $19,000. It too was a lease return and I am very happy with it so far. It takes a while to work the deal but keep at it, at first I was told that it was a "fixed price" and non-negotiable but I made an offer and the discussions began .....
