Help please - 2 gen eating starters

I have a friend with a 91 auto 2wd. In the last 3 years he's had to change his starter 3 or 4 times. Any clues?

Look for some parts of the big copper wire that give the starter the juce that are bare. Heat melted mine and it toasted the starter. Just seal it up with electrical tape or something like that.

Exactly what I was going to say. Also - is his battery and alternator in good shape? If he has to crank for a long time he is making the starter get very hot.

What brand of starter is he using? I had an '85 2x4 that would go through them. Always be pounding on the starter with the povided jack bar...Think it was because I was using low quality auto part store starters. I think the OEM Toyota starters are much better.
