help how to get the tie downs off?

i'm trying to do my bed liner this weekend but i can't get the tie downs off the screws are rusted on and i'm just messing up the heads (yes it's the right size screw driver) how can i get them off? could i just roll it on over them? then if you took um off it would look really weird but whoz gonna take the tiedowns off? there is a little rust around the edge of them (and prolly under um) but herculiner is SUPPOSTED to stop rust so iz that a probablem if i can't get um off? anyhelp would be nice as i want to do this tomorrow.
TIA -Jeff

i had trouble getting mine off also, but managed to do it with a screwdrive somehow. You could try using wd-40 or something similar and soaking it, but I am not sure if that would work. I would think a manual impact driver would do the trick. It would keep pressure on the bolt head and turn it.

PB Blaster, works a million times better than WD40.

Dremel a large slot on the critter and use a big honking flat head.

Drill it out w/ a size smaller drill bit and it'll just crumble.

Then you could use a plasma cutter, blow torch, or just scrap the whole rig if you get really ticked!

PB Blaster and the slot are what I would try first...WD40 just doesn't work like PB does...

if the screws are rusted down try a stripped screw remover. my licence plate screws were rusted into my 92runners tailgate..used the stripped screw remover and voila!

use a drill with a sloted or phillips bit. that way you can use your weight to push down instead of trying to turn sideways. just squeeze the trigger slow on a high torque setting. i do a lot of work on 1st gen rx7s and this is how i handle every phillips or flat head screw so that they dont strip out in the first place.

Its made by Kano labs, kroil is the bet penetrating oil IMO, I've watched it go up the threads of a bolt. My dad's been using it for over 10 years and had tried nearly everything else before that. Looks like this:
They guarantee all their products so if it doesn't work you get your money back, no questions asked. I tried it and they really do (i was just cheap and wanted my money back, I ended up buying another can with the money anyways).

thanks for all your help guys. heres a update. went to wal-mart got pb blaster ezout bit and some screwdriver bits for my drill. came back sprayed um all good wit PB taped um wit the hammer stoped and said a prayer, put the screwdriver on it and turned as hard as i could and it came off (thanks God) went to the next did the same but it wouldn't budge so i put the drill on it (the head was still good at this point) didn't want to go (my 18V drill wuz just wineing on high torc setting) then the bit twisted and it messed up the head so i drilled a hole in it put the ezout in it and it started to come out then the exout bit snapped i figured i have made anough noise for midnight. so tomorrow after church i'm going back to wal-mart get my money bake from the ezout go to sears and buy a good one.
thanks again for all your help
-Jeff
