help! horrible squeeling sound!

I have this horrible squeeling sound from my front right wheels. I got her up with a hilift today, and spun my tire around, and it still squeeled. That makes me think that my rotors are warped.

What should i do? I am ordering new brake pads ASAP, to see if that will help.

Any other suggestions?

It is probably your pads. Most brake bads are designed with a small piece of metal that will hit your rotor before they are completely shot. This metal is meant to make a horrible sound so you take it to the shop before the pads go completely bad and ruin the rotors and lose your brakes.

Crap....I guess that explains the squealing from my front tires too. Do you feel shuddering when braking?
I think I need new rotors as well....so much for the new exhaust I was planning on

First time I heard mine I was super paranoid and fixed it within 24 hours. I thought I'd only hear the screeching noise when I braked but I was hearing the sounds bouncing off barricades as I was driving by them.

Took off the old pads and got a good look - realized I could have gone a good number of miles more on them if I needed to.

Less than $60 in pads and 3 hours (trying to figure it out while working on it) was all it took

The good thing about the disc brakes is that (once you figure it out) they are really easy to change. After a couple changes you get down to 15 min a side

If the brake pedal vibrates during breaking then that is rotors for sure.
Otherwise it is just the pads....make sure to use some anti-squeel when you assemble it again.
You can check how much pad life is let just by pulling a wheel.
Should take about 3hrs the first time you do it......much less later.

i figured it was the pads, especially after wheelin hard last weekend. I thought it might be warped rotors, in which case the only thing I knew to do was replace them.
