Question Help with engine nock/tap ?

I hope I am not the only one that has this problem, but here goes. My truck sounds like a diesel !!! My Toy tech friend and I have adjusted they valves over and over again and it still just keeps on knockin/chatter. Now before some of you start background first. This is a re-man'd 22re motor replaced 3/02 now with 20k on it (so it's not the chain or guides, learned that lesson with the old motor). The valves were adjusted at 1k, 5k, 15k (more than once because they still are loud as can be. My question is does anyone have any suggestions on how I can quiet my rig down? I run 10w30 and change it every 3k (perk of having a Toy tech for a friend). Are there any aditives I can put in? Will synthetic oil make a difference? I see most of you run Aimsoil, does that help quiet things down? Any help would be great.

I would not put any additives in your engine, because no additive targets only one piece you should price out a lifters and valve seals if you wanna do it right.

You're adjusting the valves when the engine is at normal op temp? I run 15w 40 in winter and 20w 50 in summer(both dino) in my 22R and its runs quiet.
As for the reman. where did it come, from maybe the 'out of town bargain engine' wasn't built with high quality parts or the valves were just cleaned not replaced. Not to diss the engine you bought, just a thought. My guess is the noise is coming from the exhaust side as they go through more heating/cooling cycles.

All my work is done a Toyota dealer for basically free with genuine Toy parts (even oil changes every 3k for free).

Yeah the valves are adjusted at normal op temp.

As for the reman motor I believe it was an ATK reman motor. My buddy is a Toy Tech @ a Toy dealer so I got his cost ($1600 installed) on the motor ordered thru the Toyota dealer he works for. Even came with a 3yr/36k warranty, he called the reman motor co. and asked about the knocking and they said it was normal. I can't believe that. Any other thoughts?

runningman:
Yeah the valves are adjusted at normal op temp to Toyota specs at the dealer.
I shouldn't have to replace anything since this motor is only 1yr old w/20k.

Any other help would be great.

Having the valve cover nuts on too tight can produce noise.

Can you elaborate on this a bit?
