help cant get truck to start

help cant get truck to start

i have a 1986 toyta 4x4 with a 22r and a 5 speed ilove playing in this old truck. but i had a timing chain break last week and now i cant get it to start can anyone help?
i have checked the timing over&over its right, i've checked fuel its ok, i've checked the spark its ok, but still no start can anyone help?

Are you sure the timing isn't off 180 degrees?.

Was it the guides or chain that broke? If the chain broke then your valves are probably damaged because the 22R is an interference engine.

it was the chain and the cam gear and the guides i dont know what gave out first but had to replace all

Try doing a compression test. Some of your valves are probably bent.

if you got lucky and they are not bent, you still might have issues with being off on the timing.. bear in mind that the distributor can be 180* off and this will not allow it to start.. the engine timing can also be 180* off and this will also not allow starting

To do a compression test, screw the compression tester into a spark plug hole, disconnect the coil wire, and quickly crank the engine. Read the tester and check the compression on the next cylinder. I think the 22R should be about 170.

no not when i check the compression with a compression gauge.

if you are pretty close to 170 like say all 4 are @ 130 then thats still ok..... if they are all around that... there shouldnt be anything going on like 134, 145,142, and 85 ... that would be a bad thing
