HELP ASAP, Jay possibly???
Okay I tried washing my engine w/ some degreaser, Green Stuff to be exact. I forgotto wrap my MAF(or EUC, what ever is right on top of the air tube going to the engine. I'm know that is the AMF but is th EUC anywhere near that on the 3.4. But I got water and some degreaser on that. Now I drove all day after it dried out completley, I drove prolly close to 50 or 60 miles. I ws doing some chores around my girlfriends house and when I went to leave, I started the Runner up and it started to shake, and I kpt driving maybe 100 yards and then the shaking got worse, the exhaust sounded really bad. The Check Engine light came on and I just kept goin to get her home, the RPM's sttter and jump up and down in 1st and 2nd gear, most of the shaking stops after it gets into 3rd but you can still tell something is wrong b/c of the exhaust sound. What do you guys think this might be? this is scaring me, I was trying to get her ready to sell by washing the engine and now this. ANY input would be helpful, thanks.

the MAF is inside the intake path, water cant get on the sensor unless you sprayed inside your deckplate, which i doubt you did .
but maybe sounds like you got water in/on something. did you let your engine air dry for about 30 mins and then idle for about 15-20 minutes before you drove it?

Its the MAFS, not the ECU. The ECU is inside the cabin.
Sounds like the MAFS is going loopy on you. You could have shorted it out, but not likely. Take it out, and make sure it is clean. Its really easy to get out. Clean out the contacts on the harness that plugs into the MAFS also. Let us know where that gets you.
Look for junk in it when you take it out, preferably of the green variety.

i shorted my MAF one time, the engine wouldnt start.
so i dont think it can be your MAF, your engine wouldnt run, so move on to the next option...

Pull your efi fuse or disconnect the battery for a few minutes. You probably got some condensation on one of your sensors which caused the check engine to come on.This will erase any bad codes and reset the ecu.Try the simple things first before you start taking things apart.Good luck!

If the MAF was completely out there would be no fuel injected by the injectors. If the computer doesn't see air moving through the MAF it doesn't give the engine fuel. Check your ignition components for moisture. I bet your truck will run better tomorrow morning as everything has dried overnight. This was a common problem for my 67 Mustang as moisture got on the connectors between the coil and sparkplug wires.

Thanks alot guys, I just had to take her into the shop to get it fixed, I tried everything you guys suggested and then some, but it ultimately had to go in the shop, $196.21 later she's all better, it was a coil pack. I thought I had covered those but I guess not, can someone make me a dummy arrow and show me where the coil pack is. If nto can someone try and describe the location. But all in all I learned my lesson and I will be alot more careful when doing this again, thank for all your help guys.

Follow the wires from your sparkplugs. They terminate on the coilpacks. They are pretty water resistant as long as you don't spray at high pressure directly at them. One pack fires 2 cylinders so you were running on 4 cylinders.
