Exclamation HELP**96 4runner won't start after body lift**HELP

Hey guys I own a 96 4runner and I'm just about done performing the 4crawler 3" bodylift. My truck won't start and I originally thought it was that my battery was dead since it seemed like it died when i was putting all my power windows up at the same time.. I charged it over last night at 10amps and tried starting it again. It would start but then sputter out immediately, no rpms or anything. Another thing is that usually my alarm will sound after 20 seconds when i open the door, and now it doesn't. My brother jacked the body up off the frame to about 4 inches. Also it looks like my positive battery cables and fuel pump wires are stretched pretty tight but it looks like I can't do anything about this.

What could be causing my engine to sputter like this?

What should I do guys..

I did check the fuses in the engine fuse box and by the steering wheel. They all look good, except the "power" fuse in the cabin seems like the metal is black... Not sure if its normal..

try piggybacking the main power wires with some 4ga wire (aka the big 3 upgrade) and see if that solves your problem. it sounds like you have broke your wires by stretching them too much.

Where can I get this wire?

I am pretty sure you over streched a wire, if I rember correctly 95-97 4runners had that issue with bodylifts, something about the wire not being long enought for any type of bodylift.

You can often reroute some of the wires to make them fit better and check and see if any of the body-frame ground straps have pulled off while installing the lift:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/...To.shtml#Hoses
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/....shtml#Updates

And for a quick check to see if it is a missing ground wire, take a battery jumper cable and clamp one end of the black cable to the "-" post on the battery and the other end of the black cable to some clean part of the body sheet metal, like an unpainted bolt head. If the engine runs fine that way, either locate/replace the missing ground strap or add one. Most auto parts stores carry the heavy braided ground staps in the battery section that you can bolt between the body and the frame.

The test worked and my truck started.. Which ground strap could it be that was "broken"?

I also notice the positive and negative cables go together and travel under the alternator to an area under the engine.

Also, the accessory ground wire that connects to the negative post (about 4 inches of wire) has been broken for some time now. If I solder this wire to the negative cable could this be sufficient to operate my vehicle?

Look under the truck for any disconnected ground wires. Perhaps fixing the broken wire you see may be sufficient.
