Headlight Removal

Hey guys I have just bought a 1996 4Runner Limited 2wd with 90k mi. as my first car. I have no knowledge on these trucks as far as mods go. That said, I bought a pair of HID/Xenon? bulbs that i want to install myslef/ help of dad but we cannot figure out how to remove the headlight assembly. The only thing I can see to remove are the metal clasps on the top and the screw that holds the corner lights in. I'm sure this is a rediculously basic procedure that you all are laughing at, but any help with this would be def. appreciated.

Also, while searching the forums for the answer to this problem, I have noticed several people that have retrofitted the entire xenon assemblys from other cars. Is this required?? Have I wasted money on these bulbs in my ignorance?? haha...thanks alot yall.

you dont need to remove the whole assembly... jsut find the wire bundle under the hood, there is a ring that secures the bulb into the light

Remove the rubber suction thing that is around the wires that lead into the headlight housing. Unhook the spring loaded bulb retainer. Pull out old bulb put in new one and do what i just said in reverse order to install.

The finger oil might damage the bulb. Possibly blow up?

Exactly what kevin said...the oil from your fingers will basically make the bulb blow when it gets hot.
