Headlight Polish or Replacement?

I have a 2002 Tacoma 4x4 TRD and the headlight lenses look foggy and the headlights arent as bright as I would like. I heard you can polish the lenses to let more light through? Whats the best fix? A polish? Simply new bulbs? Or aftermarket or OEM replacements?

Thanks for any help, i can post pics if needed. I did try the search function with no help so far....

Thanks!

just go to an autozone, walmart, o'reileys, basically anywhere and get a headlight lens restoring kit. i got a turtle wax brand one that works great. came with 3 abrasive pads, some conditioner, and some lubricating stuff to keep the pads from messing up the lenses. basically you sand off the nasty film and outside coat of the lenses.

use a wool buffing pad, and some compound, or headlight cleaner. if its foggy on the inside, theres not really anything you can do. but heck, its worth a try, rather then spending alot for new lights

If your lens' are plastic those kits work great. They won't work on glass though.

As stated above, the restoration kits only work on plastic lenses. And FYI, these kits are kind of hit or miss. They will not make the lens look exactly like new, but depending on how good a job you do they can be close. I have used the Permatex kit from autozone before, and it had marginal results...ok but not great. The best kit I have ever used was a BG "Class Act" kit. You have to buy it from a dealer but it is well worth the money.

I used the Crystal View kit below 3 times now (3 different vehicles) and it's worked awesome every time. You can get it at Advance Auto or Wal-mart.
