Headlight & Hood question
I would like to install multi-reflective headlights and a sport (scooped) hood from a 99 - 01 4Runner in my 98.
Will they switch out without modification?
Thx,
Dave

the headlights will definitly..the hood scoop i think needs a little if none modification..but i think they will fit...painting the hood will cost you the most..roughly 300 plus....make sure you take pics of before and after.....good luck!

Yeah, I guess painting wouldn't be cheap.
But, luckily for me, my 4Runner is black, so no metallic paint or anything to match up against.
Once I get some money :pat: to do it Ill be sure to post pics.
Can anybody tell me for sure whether mods would have to be made to fit the hood?

Here is my write-up on the install and some pics. I got mine from www.toyotaparts4u.com. They have an ad on their page for them.

After you get the new headlights, you will want the new Crystal clear corners I SELL to match them.
If you have anymore questions, feel free to email me.

Be careful with that site. The part number they are showing for that price is only the "hood". You need many more parts to make it work. Also, shipping looks like it's going to be $125.
Part Numbers
hood 53301-35050 - This is the only part the site is showing...
Here are the rest you need:
hoodliner 53341-35031
screws (1) 90167-45005
nuts (4) 90179-06324
cushions (4) 90540-05028
rivets (2) 90269-04054
bulge 76181-35901
guide 76182-35020
protectors (4) 76183-12030
protectors (2) 76184-12020
protector 76185-35010
retainer 76187-35010
plate 76192-35010

OMG it's so cheap!!!!! Yet living in Hawaii I know not to get happy until I look at the shipping price, because that alway's kills me. I can't believe it costs over 300 to ship the stupid hood with the scoop!!!!!!!! Starts out at about 150 and ends up being about 500 something. Makes me mad, sometimes I wish I didn't live so far away from the continental US, but oh well I like the climate

I saw the same price at Toyotaautobodypartstore.com (possibly same company? Same part #).
Jason, thanks for being observant about the hardware and stuff.
Now, since I have a hood, would I be able to use all my existing hardware?
You guys think I might be best off getting a junkyard hood instead?
Also, are these Toyota made parts, or some cheap knockoff version? The reason I ask is I have a VW bug. You can get body parts for dirt cheap. Then you see there are 3 kinds. One from Germany, one from Brazil, and one from Mexico. You cant buy the Mexican parts, but you'll end up throwing them out (because theyre crap) and buying the German before its over.
Same situation???

Re: Re: Headlight & Hood question
This is probably a bit off topic, but what is that little bulb right above the main head light bulb for? (that is what that is, right?)
Have fun all.
