Headlight Always ON

Hi all,

We all know that our cars have the feature where the headlights are ON during the day even when you don't turn them ON.

Is there a way to turn them off??? I thought using the hand brake would
disable them while double parked.
Sometimes when I double park at night waiting to pick up my girl from her job... I want to turn them OFF and still keep the car ON. I know that when you first turn the car ON the lights don't go ON until your start to drive off.
That's why I'm asking...

thanks,

maguirre

a search for "daytime lights disable" gives you this thread:

http://www.yotatech.com/showthread.p...lights+disable

which lists this link:

http://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/ducky_drl/ducky.htm

but since you have a '00, then you just:

"uplug (grey plug) the resistor next to the battery (small vented box between the batt and fender). That'll work on an '00"

and is backed up by this statement:

"The plug is to the contraption bolted to the inside driver's side fender by the battery in the '00. The TSB DOES apply to the '00, but it's a lot more trouble than simply unpluging a connector, plus, disabling via the connector is easily reversible. I keep mine plugged in, but I'll unplug it for the drive-in theater, campground, etc., when you don't want your DRL's operable at night."

The switch that activates the daytime driving lights is the e-brake switch. When you start the truck the daytime lights won't come on unless the e-brake is released, once they are on they won't turn off if you engage the e-brake until the vehicle is turned off. So to get them off & the engine running you need to engage the ebrake, turn off the truck and restart it, leaving the e-brake on. Then they won't turn on until you release the e-brake

2000 4Runner DRL disable:
Disconnect connector D8 PIN 2 (Black/Yellow Stripe) wire.
An inline switch can be installed for manual operation of DRLs.
