Header Prices??
I'm looking for TRD headers for my single cat 2000 Runner. What is the best price that anyone has seen so far???
The best price so far I have found while searching is $721 + $30 shipping at toyotaparts4u.com
Any info/input appreciated. Also, if anyone in the Phoenix area that knows of a shop for the install...(I don't think I want the headache).
Thanks,
Paul :fireman:

That's the best price I have seen, Paul.
I doubt you're going to find anyone to beat it. FYI, in dyno tests, the TRD's beat the Downey's by 1 HP. Yes that's 1 HP. Aside from crossing over under the truck rather than over, I see no reason not to get the Downey.
Truck Performance carries the Downey's and sells them for far less than PP does. When/if you talk to them, ask about the headers designed for the 99-02 4WD, I don't know if you have an Auto or Manual, and ask about the x-over pipe for the 96-98 trucks.
That combination will work. They offer a ceramic coated header as well. The last time I asked about this set up, it was less than $400 for both the ceramic coated header and x-over pipe.
Hope this helps.

PhD Z:
I just checked their site.
$379.55 for nickel/chrome
$413.62 for ceramic coated
Both prices include crossover.
PP has them for $299 but not sure what that includes. I may have to call them. I've heard that the Downeys are not as good as far as quality of the TRD because of how they work/perform ??
I already have the s/c and TRD cat.
Thanks for your input Z-man!

PP's price only includes the headers. I just checked their website and they want $322.95 and the version they list is for the 2WD, not 4WD. And the price is only for the nickle-chrome version.
I wouldn't trust them to know what they are doing anyway when it comes to the single cat 99-00 trucks because they don't seem to think they exist. I had to order my exhasut system 3 times before they shipped the right one. They kept wanting to send me the dual-cat version.
If you can stomach the price for the TRD headers, get them. The only downfall concerning the Downey's that I have heard people complain about is the x-over pipe. Since you could just order the Headers themselves, you could have a custom x-over made and still come out paying far less.

he-he, I took too long to reply.
The Ceramic Coating does a few things:
1. It lowers under hood temps because it keeps the heat of the exhaust contained in the headers.
2. Because heat is retained in the headers, the exhaust gasses do not lose as much energy, which improves the scavenging effect of the headers, which improves HP/Torque.
3. Lower under hood temps promote longer life for hoses, wires, plastic parts, etc. Not to mention a lower IAT, which again improves HP/Torque.
Next time, ask all your questions BEFORE I reply!
