Hassled with Mudflaps Off?

I hope this is the correct forum. Didn't see anythign else that woudl have made much more sense.

I want to pull the mud flaps off my truck. Has anyone ever been hassled for this? Any reason I shouldn't? I already have the drive and passenger windows tinted to match the factory glass tint and never get bothered for that, not legal here in California, so this shouldn't be much worse.

I never had a problem when I didn't have my mudflaps on. However, that was when I didn't have any on the front...I've always kept them on the back. I doubt anyone will mess with ya about it. I think they are usually more concerned when the tires stick way outside the fender well/flares.

i removed my mudflaps off on my previous vehicle which was a prerunner tacoma. The truck was lifted about 2"s. Was never hassled for it.

It probably depends on the cop, i've seen many medium to full size rigs with no flaps in so cali.

I'm gonna sound like an a$$ for sure, but what about rocks and the drivers behind you? Just a thought.

No, you don't. I've had three cracked windshields this year but mudflaps aren't stopping rocks that get kicked up from my personal view of all three rocks flying at me.

Mudflaps only really stop water and mud. Rocks get spit out lower than mudflaps hang unless you got those diesel or RV sized ones.

Yeah, I guess when you've got a lift, flaps are out the window when it comes to rocks anyway.

I've never been hassled either but some buddies of mine have. Then again, they have to almost no fenders to attach flaps to.

Mine became history from backing over big rocks. Tacos have more flexible ones though.

I have been pulled over in Wisconsin for flaps, but have not had any issues in Colorado, Arizona of Utah.

From what I hear, Cali is supposed to be strict.

I find that running without front flaps eats the paint of my sliders in about a month and leads to a lot of rock dingers that do not fair well in the road salt here.
