I searched and looked through all 12 pages and didn't find my answer, I'm hoping that someone will have some ideas of what could be causing this.

I came back from vacation to a dead battery, I jumped the truck so that I could charge the battery. I drove down to pick up a new battery (optima R34) with my other car. I replaced the battery tightened up the connections and the truck started right up. Remember the truck now had been sitting for atleast 8 hours total. I then take it out for a drive approx 15 miles or so, the truck is at full opterating temp. I get home let the truck idle for a few more mins, then I shut it off. I tried to start it up again and it wouldn't start, I repeated this about 3-4 times. The truck felt like it wanted to start but it wouldn't hold idle. I had to give it gas to get the truck to start again.

As I headed out to work today, the truck started up fine this morning no problems at all. After a short drive to the office I tried to start the truck again and it wouldn't start. I tried this again a few times and finally it started on its own, I did not have to give it any gas.

I went to lunch and the truck started fine, as I was leaving the resturant it wouldn't start again. I had to keep trying to turn it over, finally again it started without giving it any gas. Later on, my wife and I headed out to the post office and as I ran in to get the mail when I came back out again it wouldn't start. I had to give it gas this time to start and hold idle.

It also appears that the truck is not being able to hold idle that it is moving anywhere from 400 to 900 at any given time warm or cold.

Sorry for the long email, but I really need to get this problem fixed.

That sounds like it may be a bad TPS.

I will check out the TPS.

Wouldn't the battery being dead cause the ECU to reset itself?

I just ready on toyotanation that it maybe my K&N filter. I'm going to replace it with a stock filter and clean the MAF and go from there

The K&N will have nothing to do with it. I have been running then in all forms (stock, drop in, conical, ram air) for almost 15 years with no problems at all.

Depending on how dead the battery was there would still be enough amperage left to keep the computer powered. Pulling the EFI fuse would be a simple no cost test to do before other things and can help eliminate items. I would try it & see what happens.

The battery was dead, the key fob didn't work nor did the dome light at all. Only once I had the jumper cables hooked up did anything in the truck come on.

Keep us posted and let us know what the fix is when you find it. I have been rereading the posts and ???

Maybe a vacumm leak somewhere? Is the alternator still good or did it crap out at the same time as the battery? Just a stab in the dark.

You might want to check your Idle Air Control valve. My IAC valve/sensor crapped out a year ago--the symptoms were more severe than yours, but it is another item worth checking. Good luck.

Well it appears that it was the IAC. I'm going to order a new one and install it. According to the OBD reader it seems that something is sticking inside of the IAC.

Also where is the cheapest place to buy one besides the stealership? Or is that my only option?
