Guages for SC/Tuning
88781.1
As some of you may know i have a 96 taco V6 and am prepping it for a future s/c....
I am currently in the process of ordering a SMT-6.
What kind of guages will help me out to be able to tune the truck properly? and what should i look for in the guages (to see what problems i can see form them and what the target level it should be at after tuning. EG: EGT should not exceed 1450 ish)
Through some research i have thought about the following:
Auto Meter Z Series(to match with the TRD boost guage):
-AFR Meter
-EGT Guage
-Fuel Pressure Guage
I already have the Tranny Temp Guage as it is usfull for offroading and towing...make sure not to overheat tranny.
I am also thinking about purchasing a BR-3 as well
Also i just purchased a EGT guage....where do i put the probe? it sasy 6" from the junction....that is away from engine or toward the engine (this is for the clamp install from Autometer)
Thank you guys

I wouldn't worry too much about fuel pressure guage...the AFR guage is one that will really help you, though. If you're worried about performance maybe an oil temp guage/oil pressure guage.

Hey i heard that the fastest taco out there is a 95.5....got that from TTORA...dont rember who said that...so dont take my word =]
anyway i was thinking abou tthe Fuel Pressure as that way i can tell if im going to low on pressure....bt who knows i got the EGT guage today and going to install it by weeks end and hopefully have the SMT6 on its way

yea thats my intention....i put the tranny one on because like he said only for autos and thats what i have and i tow alot so i dont wanna fry tranny before its to late....
the guages will help me tune the truck when the s/c is here....i am hoping to configure the truck to preform well with the s/c and without and to provide different maps online for the SMT so people can just download it and upload it to thier truck.
Im also getting one of those road dyno thingers to dyno my trucks progress...ill keep in touch
