Guage Pack on a 22-re
Hi,
I quick question about the hook ups for extra guages on a 22re engine. I have the sunpro triple guage pack that I'm planning on installing. I can figure out the volt and oil pressure guages and where to connect them to but I don't know where to put the Temperature guage to,the instructions are alittle hazy. If anyone's hooked up something similar I could use some hints. Thanks a lot

I'm assuming the new kit has electrical not mechanical connections. I think the send unit for the in dash temp. guage in on the intake manifold. If your service dept. at local toyota store is helpful have one of the mechanics look at their service manual (eletrical diagrams) and find the colors of the wires going to send unit. If not... you could pull the current speedo. cluster and try to figure out which colors are common in bundle going to side with stock temp. guage and to an electrical send unit on coolant passage of intake manifold.
I just put a oil press. on my 22R. I would recommend keeping the dash warning light connected. (it does catch you eye in the event of major pressure loss). Also there is a second 'port' into the oil channel (between passanger side motor mount) that I would use for the second (new) send unit. The plug is much easier to remove with a shot of PB blaster than the oil send unit. (poor design IMHO). The reason I make this recommendation is I turned the oem send unit off and spent way to long getting a threaded hole to put the 'T' in. Also finding a Japanese pipe thread tee is a pain in the neck.
Good luck
