Are you serious? What kind of braking, suspension mods have you done?

Very serious, maybe not the smartest thing in some respects but interesting.

My 03' stops at 108, and my speedo also goes to 110. I don't know about the 2nd gens but I would have to assume so to some point be it rev/tranny combo. My 03' has plenty of rev's left before it would max out, even with the gearing.

I suspect wind drag is a big factor. You may have to lower your truck and gear it for more topend performance. Again, do you have the braking to stop your truck from those speeds? When I was young and incredibly stupid I used to like to get my 75 Nova above 100 to impress friends and dates and that thing had bad brakes at normal speeds.

You obviously haven't found a big enough hill to go down...

yeah same here. mine goes to 110, but the highest i've gotten it too was 102. that was on level ground tho, not downhill. maybe it's not the smartest thing to take a lifted 4runner over 100mph, but dammit i wanna hit 110 at least once.

I think the owners manual says it goes to 103. I'm definitely not going to push mine that fast. The fastest mine has seen is probably 85, but that is adding the difference in the tire size.

When you get above 100 wind is a really big factor. My Dodge Ram would pull pretty good until 105 and then it took every ounce it had left to make it to 110. I never got it to the limiter though. I was told it was at 117.

The faster you go the longer it takes to stop. Thats a given. So if you are going to drive that fast just find a good place to do it. I can't say that I haven't done stupid things because I have. Just don't endanger anyone else. I thought I was going to die one night because a friend of mine thought it would be cool to pass people on a 2 lane interstate going 105. It was cool until one person decided to change lanes without looking back. My friend locked up his brakes. Luckily the other person realized what they did and moved back over. Scary stuff. When I got out of the car I was shaking. My friend wore two flat spots in his front tires.

Back to the original topic. If you have enough power I think the only way to get rid of the governor is reprogram the computer or get a chip for it. I don't know if you can do these things on a 4runner but I guess it is worth looking into.

Later

Hey, I'm in Lakewood, too! We have to hook up.

I removed the speed limiter on my ECU. I sent the ECU to EL Prototypes shortly after I installed the supercharger.

Just out of curiosity, where did you plan on opening it up? C-470 after 3:00 am is pretty empty. If you were going to take it to the limit, you'd probably want to do it on the downhill from I-70. Be sure you're slowed back down before Kipling, it gets rough. I'd stay away from I-70 and I-25. They usually have a few State Patrol cruising.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you kill yourself while trying to set a new 4Runner land speed record.

Are you serious ? My V8 '03 with hit 110 and keep accelerating on a flat highway. I was told the '03 was governed to 116.
I had a friend next to me in an RX7 say were were doing 112 one time.

The fastest I got mine to was 95, I coulda gone faster but my mom was with me.. lol, this was on I10, so the speedlimit was 75 anyway.

A friend of mine with a Trans-Am has gotten to around 140+ (not sure exactly), but scared the crap out of himself slowing down because he had a warped brake-rotor.

Guess what I learned yesterday. You Arizonans call it Press-cut. While having dinner with a buddy's family his relatives kept saying that and I was like "Where the hell is that?"

Did you have to pay the full $500 (or however much it is) for the full reprogram or did you just pay for the spped cut to be removed? If so how much was it?

Thanks,
Milan

Thanks haveblue, for the only one answer to my orginial question. Do you have any info on them or do they have a website?

And to JGage hince the reason your runner keeps going, I'm talking about the V6 and your talking about the V8. I'm pretty sure there different, you got two more holes and a completly different ecu setup.

Yeah, I've been corrected for calling it Pres-cott, but I've lived here most of my life.. and noone has really given me a reason why it's not pronounced how it's spelled..
