Got my first 4runner!!!
Just purchased a nused 2000 4runner sr5. Was wondering what the compartment in the back passenger side was for? Looks like it is molded to hold something special and has straps. Didn't have an owner's manual of course but I'm in the process on ebay for that if not there can order through toyota for $16. Also has an aftermarket flip down tv/monitor where the dome light was with no input have yet to trace the wires to find out where they end. Any suggestions on anything with this new toy of mine is greatly appreciated. Plan on going to Oregon Inlet Easter weekend to test her out!!! I love it! :beach:

I have a 90 Japanese model there are two of those compartments in the back of mine one with straps and one with out. the stealerships showed me the orignal pics and the straps hold the factory tool kit. I was not going to buy one from them just to keep the straps filled up....then I discovered the factory jack under the rear seat and it had none of the handles need to use it.....surfed the junk yards getting all the parts rounded up...now that full kit is in the truck....

i've got a 99, that rear storage compartment had jumper cables and the hitch-ball reciever thing in it. got this used though, so i'm not sure if this is the original purpose of the compartment.

I think you can put a "first aid kit" back there. I think Toyota's is supposed to fit back there. But i had to pay extra at the stealer when i bought my truck new, so i didn't get it.
