Unhappy A good place to buy a Rear Carrier Assembly?

I am getting a very high pitch grinding sound from the rear. Toyota said it was the carrier assembly.
Anyone know a good site to buy a carrier assembly from? I am a 98 Tacoma SR5 TRD w/ locker.

Toyota wanted about a $1000 for it and I would like to spend less.

Thanks

are you talking about under the rear of the car where you crank the tire up and down. If so I have one I could sell you.

Carrier, I think he means as in the differential carrier...

There are some guys who specialize in Toyota parts here, as in they own "junk yards". You can go check your local wrecking yards as well.

PM DeathCougar or Dirtoyboy they probably will have something for you for much less than that robbery of a price.

Also, I'd make SURE thats the problem. I haven't heard of anyone having issues like that. Have you checked the diff oil? Try taking it to another mechanic. You can pull the 3rd member out pretty easily from the axle housing as well.... BUt, you'll have to pull both axle shafts out first. Its not that bad of a job. A mechanic shouldn't charge too much, especially if you bring him the part.

I had an ARB locker put in, and they gave me the diff carrier. I'm mechanically challenged, but does that sound right? If that is correct, mine is from my 02 4Runner.

http://www.car-part.com/ - searches all junk yards across the US. I got my rear carrier (differential) with e-locker for $325 using that site to find it. Key is to search under carrier in the dropdown vs. differential.
