i put a LC Engineering header and a Jardine 2.25" cat back exhaust on mine, i also have a Amsoil air filter and elbow removed, it brought more power throughout the RPM range, but it mainly helped top end, 3000-5000 rpm

Get the AEM Short ram Intake. Did better MPG, and the butt dyno said it was worth it. I got mine for ~$120 from Options Auto Salon (www.optauto.com).

This was back when my dad had a 97 2.7L Taco

i got a k&n/downeyheader/flowmaster, i did my exhaust myself and it save a lot of $$ as for power, it has helped a lot, considering the 400+lbs of armor/add ons i have on my truck and tires and not even geared, my next goal is the gears and the lc engineering head, you can get a decent amt of power out of this engine and still have the gas mileage
