The dealership is going to cost alot for a factory cat.
If you go to an aftermarket parts counter, ask for a tripple bed cat, as this will help the truck to pass emisions. The majority of the universal cats are a dual bed design and will give hassles at the emissions test.

claim it on your insurance. you definitely want it CA emissions OK, so i wouldnt bother messing around with aftermarket crap. besides..it was stolen from you. why would you have to pay to get your truck to sub par pre-theft condition? oem cats are expensive...im sure your deductible would be as much as an aftermarket..and it might not even let you pass CA emissions. put your insurance to good use and get a new oem cat out of it...

Anyone work in a scrap yard here? I guess it's difficult to tell the difference between shady cat stealing characters and normal scrappers? How long is this gonna go on until some changes are made?

i had a new system installed on my 510 over the weekend and talking to the guy, he said that the state pays HIM cash for any that are replaced.
A LOT more than for scrap, sometimes more than what the new cat cost him.
this is what our emissions testing $$ is funding
