depending on what you do... it can be done cheap or very expensive depending on how you set it up

I was thinking of using the advanced adaptors kit. I all ready have the motor, its coming out of my S10 Blazer. My bro says that L&L makes a kit thats better then the Adavenced adaptors kit and cheaper then it alos. Any ony know???

get ahold of crash, i think he's still regg'd on this board. his swap is probably the best documented on the net.

best bet would be to use an R151F transmission if you want to keep it all-toyota -- it's the strongest transmission that's been sold in toyota trucks in the states, it came in '86-87 turbo 4x4s. however they're expensive. another good idea is the GM SM465 4 speed, you'd probably never be able to break it.

i know that the NV3500 5 speed might be a good option since you can get them new for about the price of a rebuilt R151F but i'm not sure of the adapter to bolt it to a GM engine. i think novak might make one -- however advance makes an adapter to use a toyota gear driven case behind it.

HAD is the appropriate word - truck is with it's new owner in San Diego. It's been wheeled more in the last two months than in the previous 5 years.

I had over $4200 into the swap, including a good blueprint/balance ($1200) of the '89 engine because of vibrations. Motor mounts were fab'd, AA parts for engine to tranny (150/151). Exhaust was GM tubular headers modified to clear the frame.

I've done this swap twice - new mounts, repositioning the motor, etc. Crash does it a lot better - he's got some great skills and can fab rings around me.

It's a common swap. Many people are very pleased with the results, some are not. I'll stick w/ Toyota engines from now own - their power band suits my style better.
