Give me the low down on lift kits !

I`m looking to maybe lift my 4runner 2 inches .I have some questions that I couldn`t answer with a search .

What kits are good ? What`s in a kit ?

How much to install ?

Will I have to do a 4 wheel alignment ?

Will I have to replace the shocks ?

Can my poor 2.7L 4 cylinder handle the change ?

How badly will my mileage suffer ?I will not be changing the tires or rims .

Any other advice apreciated .I will not be doing much off roading .I`m just doing it for looks .

A complete kit is just that. Everything you will need to lift your vehicle. It may not account for other things - such as the possible need for an extended brake line.

Prices vary.

You'll need an alignment if it is a suspension lift.

Depends on type of lift.

Probably.

It will suffer. Depends on how much lift. Probably could expect to lose 1-3 mpg.

Once you've determined if you are going to get a body lift or a suspension lift the searching will be much easier. You may also want to search using different keywords. A lot of this is stuff you will find in a search.

Trust me, if I know it then it's something you can find in a search. Just about all the stuff I know about my truck I learned here

Also, follow this link. It's mainly for Tacomas but the front end stuff should be applicable.
