Ghosts in my 4Runner?

I don't know if this is happening because of a short in my electrical system but I can't explain it. When I shut off my engine, about a minute later the rear window lowers about 4" by itself. The key is out of the ignition and I didn't press any buttons. Any ideas would be very helpful.

ok so im guessing you have a 2nd gen.

Could be the relay shorting...I would investigate to see if you can find any wires that are cracked and could be shorting..

well on my 91, if i leave my window half open and go over a bumpy road it will close until i shut off my vehicle at which point it drops down. so i just dont leave my window half down, i either have it all the way open or closed.

That's really strange... if this happened to me, I'd probably just run inside and lock my doors. Well that wouldn't help because ghost can travel threw walls.

You need an old preist and a young preist. You 4Runner needs to be excersized.

I never had this problem but have read about it on this forum before. I would try searching. I think most people said if they put the window lock on, it owuld prevent this from happening. I think the fix though was to replace some module in the rear hatch.

Ghosts in my 4Runner?

Okay, I figured out what was causing my back window to lower by itself. I didn't think it was my remote because it's an aftermarket deal and there's no window button like on the factory Toyota remote. To make matters worse, when I bought the vehicle from the previous owner, he didn't have the manual for the remote system so I couldn't verify if it controlled the window. What I realized is that when you disarm the remote, the button that you press to arm it silently also doubles as the window control. I had the remote latched onto my belt at the time and one of my other keys must have pressed that button which lowered the glass. I'm glad it wasn't a short in the system and it wasn't the devil. LOL
