Gen 1 S/C issue

I recently bought a 98' S/C'd 3.4. My question is regarding the cast aluminum pipe coming off of the upper manifold right above the actual supercharger then leading down to the lower manifold. I noticed that this pipe is loose. Is this normal? Should I upload a pic? Let me know if you can help. Thanks

Greg

I wish I knew more about the S/C and could help you. I don't, but I've attached the installation instructions from Toyota, maybe they'll help you out.

Otherwise, it's probably broken and not worth anything. I'll give you $50 bucks for it, send it my way!

Anybody? It just doesn't seem right that this would be loose. When I took it apart there is an O ring that goes around the flat oval pipe that leads to the upper manifold. It does not look to be a normal o ring. Looks like hard plastic o ring. Does anyone know how this seals and if I can buy these parts? I have searched for a while now but since I do not know what this pipe is called my search has turned up nil.

No, unfortunately that's not normal. Mine was never loose for as long as I've owned it.

Disclaimer:
I don't own my truck anymore, but I've owned it with the blower for many years. I've learned during my ownership that these units will require a quality rebuild sooner than other parts of the car to maintain peak operability. This might not apply to you, but considering that pipe has gotten loose you might be starting to lose boost around the area of that pipe and possibly in other places as well.

the supercharger is a magnusson i have read, look through this rebuild thread,
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/t...ebuild-264600/
is that the blowoff valve pipe? looks like a cover in the picture.
i would get ahold of one of the SC rebuilders in the thread i posted, they would know more about it that i do which would'nt take much lol...

I have a Gen 1 SC and mine isn't loose at all? I have my hand on that pipe right now and with a large amount of effort I can get a couple mm sway, but no where near what yours looks like?

Below is a pic of mine (painted black obviously). I don't see any of that flange underneath I can see in yours.

Mine was loose too, the fix is take it apart, clean it up, then put some rtv around the edges where the port goes and reinstall. I used permatex the right stuff because it sets really fast. No boost leak now. Mine was leaking so bad it threw a p0171 code, not anymore.

Thanks for the info guys! I was able to take this thing apart and from what I can tell it looks as if some sub standard o-rings were used. I am going to order some high temp o-rings for it as soon as I find out what size I need.
