Gear Lube

I read that if you go through some real deep water you should change your gear lube ASAP. Is this true? How bad can a little watter be in all that oil? Haven't done it, just wondering.

if you extend you breathers you shouldn't have to worry about it. otherwise if water does get in you need to get it out quick. water is less viscous than the lube therefore more heat builds up and can or will damage your gears. I think that's it.

water heats different than the oil. If you get water in your diff, when they get hot, it will boil the water, and cause your diff to litterally "blow up." gear oil will come out the diff, and you will have fried your diff.

In the transmission, it gets nice and pink, and turns thick...looks a lot like Pepto Bismo
