gas tank size on 3rd gen. 1997 4runner

i just bought a 1997 4runner and am wondering if I am getting normal gas milage. I think I have a 15 gallon tank but have read that they have a 18 gallon tank. if I do have a 15 gallon tank who can tell me if a little over 200 miles per tank is normal? I think the tank is 14.8? thanks!

I know the tank is bigger than 15 gallons but I'm not sure if it's 17 or 18.

18 gallon tank and anywhere from 16-20mpg is "normal" for a stocker.

The actual size is 18.5 g but even when I completely ran out of gas, it only filled up to max of 17.1 g. So I'm guessing the last 1.4g is somewhere at the way bottom. I think average for a 4WD 4R would be around 16.5 mpg, 2WD slighty more.

How large is the tank on a 2002 Tacoma 4x4 V6? Owners manual says 17gallons but that seems a little low for a V6? [/hijack] It appears that I get about 23 mpg for 300 miles going easy on the pedal (~2100 rpm).

I am only getting around 16.5 city in my 4x4 3rd gen.

I calculated it by:

Filling the tank up all the way
Reset the trip
Drive half a tank or so
Fill it up all the way
Divide how much is on the trip by how much you had to fill it to top it off

THat way you dont have to worry about the size of the tank
