functional hood scoop?
pics of a scoop on 3rd gen
I saw this as interesting but know from an aerodynamics point of view, it would not work and not in small part due to the fact he used 4 small tubes instead of one large fitting. Also the mesh inside the scoop renders it useless at freeway speeds.
I wonder if that scoop could be useful for something though...

What's funny is that using the title of this thread in the SEARCH function came up with this thread from about two months ago:

Ok. so we all know that the 4 little tubes are pretty much worthless for air flow to the intake, but wouldn't he benefit by taking the tubes off and allowing the hood scoop to help with under-hood ventilation? Since he's SC'd, he needs to run a little cooler to prevent pinging anyway, right? The hood scoop could give him a little fresh air to keep his intake and SC cooler.
Maybe somebody should send him a link to this thread...

I think both of you are correct in that it could help overall temp of the s/c and engine. Since the s/c is a small unit, it gets hot real quick and hot air = less hp. But, slc punk is correct in that it wouldn't do much. It could very well extend the life of the s/c and make its job a little easier, but you won't notice anything in the seat of the pants.
