Fuel line question
Okay, I tried and tried with my very expensive flare nut wrench, my liquid wrench, and everything else. I CAN NOT GET THE #&*^%&@ FUEL FILTER NUT OFF! The nut after the filter, going to the engine I can get off but the one before the filter is not happening.
Now I did notice the fuel line leading from the gas tank to the filter is a hose up to most of the way. Then it changes to a hard line that connects to the fuel filter. Am I crazy in thinking of replacing the fuel filter and that short piece of fuel line? Why not? Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Here is two shots. One is the fuel line feeding into the filter. That is the nut I can not get off. The other shot is the other end of the fuel line. The red clasp is holding the metal line in the rubber (flexable ) hose line.

Aw, come on guys. You means to tell me with all the engine swaps, superchargers installed, and lifts raised on our trucks no one has ever changed a fuel line?

Oh yeah it is a real PITA to do. I did mine at work on my lunch break a year ago and it took an hour to get the stupid thing off. You just have to keep working it really slowly with the flare nut wrench and turn the nut little by little. It will come off eventually. Once the nut starts to come out more easily then by hand turn the filter itself while holding onto the line nut and it will go faster. You also need to slightly unbolt the filter hanger on top just enough for the filter to slide out. When you get ready to put the new filter on then put some oil on it to make it slide in easier. Good luck!
edit: On the plastic quick disconnects, just squeeze the plastic locking tang while pulling on the other end it should come off. If not you may need to buy some quick disconnect tools.

I need to get a fuel line. One of the flare nuts is rounded and the flare nut wrench can't get a good grip. So I need to replace the filter and part of the line. I hope I can buy it through Toyota.

You don't HAVE to buy it through Toyota although it will be a guarenteed fit, Napa usually may have them. You might have to make the flared ends but it's not all that hard to do.

I'd have to do some bends and flare out the end. I don't have the tools, or experience for that. I'm trying to find the line alreadys pre-bent and with the nut on it. I am guessing that the other end just slides into the hose and the red clamp holds it tight.
