Front wheel hop in 4HI....
It just did it coming up my driveway. 1st gear, maybe 5mph and the front end was bouncing. It has also done it coming down from the local mountain, about 30-35mph in 4HI.
So what could it be? Failing U-joint? I have absolutely no clue. I don't know too much about 4-wheel drive troubleshooting.

Careful!
A bit of advice -- I wouldn't use 4WD all the time unless you need it. Using it all the time on regular road conditions may prove to be treacherous. I sometimes use it when there are wet roads, and with snow/ice its a must. And definately DO NOT use 4WD LO unless it's in extreme conditions. That torques the hell out of your gears and can even break them if you use it enough on regular driving road conditions. I think it says something like that in the owner's manual. But to answer your question, some bouncing around in 4WD is normal. I don't think you have anything wrong, but maybe others have opposing views.

Well, to start, my driveway isn't paved. It's a long gravel road. I had it in 4hi and lo while I was moving rocks on my property. We've got a lot of mud and loose ground, so 4x4 is neccessary. As for coming down the mountain, I had it in 4hi because it was extremely icy. I only put it in 4x4 when I have to.
