Front Struts 95 Tacoma (Stumped the Parts Guy)

1995 Tacoma 4 WD ADD. I am trying to change out my front shocks/struts. On the new shocks, purchased from the local parts store, the dust cover is a seperate piece. On the original shock, it (the dust cover) is part of the shock. The problem arises in that the new dust cover is a little larger in diamater (about 1/4 inch) and won't fit through the spacer at the top of the strut. The parts guy couldn't help me. He said that is the one his system calls for. Any suggestions?? Do I need to get them from the dealer??

You will probably have to go to the dealer.

Alot of "oem" replacement parts dont match up exactly. My friend got a rad that said it was "a direct oem replacement" and it didnt fit right and the A/T line connecters were a different size.

Obviously was giving you the wrong part.

Or, a cheap aftermarket part.

Take it back go to the dealer, and get the correct part the first time.

I put Rancho shocks on my 95.5 Taco, no regrets. All worked as it should. I would NOT go to the dealer and get OEM struts. Upgrade man, you'll be glad you did and won't cost much more if any. Do it!

You don't need the dust cover. Install the shocks without the dust cover. That is how I installed my Bilstein 5100's.
