I'm lifting my 2001 tacoma soon and want to get some opinions on the Toytech / Eibach 3" lift coils.

I've ordered the adjustable bilsteins 5100's. I can run these at the 2.5" setting with my stocko taco coils but I am worried about the ride quality. So I'm considering ordering some new coils and using the 0 or 1.25" settings to keep the preload at a minimum.

My main goal is to achieve 3" lift up front but keep a soft ride. I have extended cab but it's a non-TRD 4 banger so she will be light up front. I've got the 1" diff drop also and rear 2" shackles and a new frame in progress with new stock leafs for the rear

Has anyone ran the adjustable bilsteins at full 2.5" lift on stock coils?
Has anyone ran the 3" lift coils. Want to know how the ride quality will be affected.

I've seen someone say the 3" coils are just longer and thus preloaded more and thus stiffer - this makes since but I have not seen anyone running these confirm this.

Call doug or Dylan at ToyTec. I'm now running the ToyTec coilovers with 600# coils on my 4runner. They are new so I can't give much opinion yet. I have a friend that has the 550# coils. He said that they flex well but are soft for the street. Your taco will want lighter coils, maybe 500# or 550#.

A longer coil can compress more than a short one.

It doesn't matter if you set the adjuster on the zero setting on the shock or a lifted setting. If you adjust to a 3" lift the bottom of the coil/adjuster collar will be in the same position and the coil will have the same preload on it.

Ah, I see this is true but It seems that spacers work the same way except for top spacers which don't change the spring but only add length to the top of the shock assembly. I am still weighing all my options out. It seems that most folks say spacers will jack the ride badly as they preload the spring but as for the bilstiens I can't seem to find a clear answer. In my mind the bilsteins still preload the springs just the same as a spacer would.

I've got the coilover setup on my Tundra, drives like a Cadillac. Rides as good or better than stock stuff new.

I guess I will stick with my original plan and just run the stock springs with the bilies adjusted to the top notch. I wanted to stay on a tight budget for now. I can always throw some coils under her later. Maybe find some used ones?
Do the OME coils work okay with the Bilstiens? Seems I seen somewhere this was not recommended.

I have tundra coils with Bilstein Adjustables on the lowest setting sits perfectly

have you ever bumped them up to see how it rides say in the middle clip? putting mine on this thursday with LC 8 wraps and i think ill put mine in the middle to hopefully level it out
